The new home for the city of Raleigh’s Contemporary Art Museum (CAM) is the result of an exciting public/private partnership between the city, CAM, and North Carolina State University. Located in the warehouse district in downtown Raleigh, the project will revitalize the neighborhood with a dynamic mixed-use program that also provides an effective symbiotic funding solution. Conceived of as a community-oriented landmark building for the area, the form of the residential tower draws inspiration from the seed bud of the magnolia tree, a symbol of strength in the South. The program comprises the 30,500 sq. ft. museum, which includes galleries, education space, a library, and second floor sculpture garden, 8,300 sq. ft. of retail space, and 57,500 sq. ft. of condominium units.
