Principal
Gwynne Pugh is recognized by public agencies and private clients across Southern California for his planning, design, and facilitation skills, which he employs to guide diverse parties to consensus in the development process. These abilities consistently deliver Pugh + Scarpa’s clients with completed projects—improved by input from all stakeholders.
Co-founder of the firm, Pugh is responsible for general office administration and firm management and urban design and engineering. Under his leadership, 98% of Pugh + Scarpa’s projects that reach the construction document stage have been built. This success reflects his intimate understanding of the complexities of the building process.
An architect and engineer, Pugh has extensive design and management experience in master planning, urban design, institutional projects, affordable and market-rated multifamily housing of all scales, single family residential, commercial/industrial, and adaptive reuse projects.
Committed to improving the urban fabric of Southern California, Pugh serves on, and is a past Chair of the Santa Monica Planning Commission, and as a Peer Review Consultant to the Cities of San Diego, Long Beach, Carson, and Los Angeles as well as the Getty Conservation Institute. He is a LEED Accredited Professional, and is an expert in sustainable design and engineering.
